The state of affairs is out of proportion and I’ll tell you why:

This world is full of hate between equal men. By abiding to the rule that there will always be a justified sense of the other races’ guilt (concerning the acts of their ancestors), you are enslaving mankind to a corrupt world that could be a much better place. While it is true that prejudice against blacks does the same, people who dwell on past cruelties are the same. It’s a never ending cycle hate.

Except no, because you side-stepped branwyn’s entire point and missed the entire point of the gd post. For the fifth time, for the tenth, fiftieth, hundredth (is there an echo in here?) — it’s not about hating white people. It’s about hating the white system, and hating that white people (like those above) don’t recognize it. And your comparison is more than a little stale: white supremacy is something that is still prevalent in our media and culture, and denying this doesn’t help anybody except those who already benefit from it. It still profiles non-whites as threatening and harmful while brushing aside white terrorism, it still stereotypes and misinforms, it still kills people of color. And plenty of white people out there still don’t have a fucking clue — or rather, they see people calling it out, and dismiss it with a third grade mentality of “Stop whining, we should get along!” We can’t get along with we’re not all equal.

This very misinformed, very “let’s all be friends, stop hating on each other!” attitude would be nice in Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, but forgiveness from anybody doesn’t automatically erase centuries of STILL PREVALENT AND PERSISTING RACISM in the world. If white culture wants forgiveness, it has to work for it — it has to work to benefit those who’ve been oppressed and stepped down on to help them reach the level white people have gotten to by systematically doing the oppressing and stepping down upon. It’s ingrained in the culture. It’s ingrained in our perceptions of each other. It’s not something you just decide to get over; it takes ages of self-analyzing to even understand.

You can wave your colorblind badges, you can say “I see we’re all equal,” you can yell “HATRED ONLY BREEDS MORE HATRED” until your face turns blue, but now you’re not ignorant, you’re just dismissing valid and legitimate criticism of an institution that kills. Congratulations on believing suppressing anger and putting on a smile for the sake of preserving the status quo is worth being stepped on for the rest of your and your descendants’ lives. Don’t expect others to take the same attitude.

When a white person says “I hate black people,” that’s encouraging persisting belief in black inferiority because it’s what we’ve been told for centuries. When a black person says “I hate white people,” they’re hating that they’ve been p

Racism against people of color negatively affects livelihood — “hating on white people” (again, NOBODY IS HATING ON WHITE PEOPLE, THEY’RE HATING THE INSTITUTION) just makes white people uncomfortable for a few minutes. It’s not ~equal hatred~ if one group directly benefits from pushing the other down.

Then I have to say I’m even more bewildered, because why not reblog from the OP? In disagreeing without specifying who you’re disagreeing with the comment chain reads as you responding to brawnwyn, considering who you reblogged it from. You didn’t specify you were referring back to the original topic of conversation so you’re essentially replying directly to her. And even still, my argument still stands…

(At the end of the day it’s still a fucked up system and suppressing anger will only show itself in other, most likely more harmful, ways. lol essentially are you saying poc shouldn’t be angry at all? What better to direct their anger at than at a system influenced by people who can actually affect it, since poc are rarely given the tools to do so? Maybe white people need to realize it’s not personal, never HAS been, but hurt feelings won’t affect their chances of success in academia or their careers. Maybe it’ll, y’know, give white people a taste of their own goddamn medicine so they understand the problem here and why it needs addressing.)
